Catering & Sandwich Shops
This week, I carried out PAT testing at a local catering spot. Fryers, microwaves, fridges, freezers, and toasters were all checked over. In busy places like catering businesses, it’s really important to make sure your electrical gear is safe to use. While PAT testing isn’t legally required, it’s the go-to standard in the industry to keep equipment safe.
Logistics & Haulage Company PAT Tested
This week, I conducted PAT testing at the office of a logistics and haulage company. Steve requested the testing of his office equipment following a requirement from his insurance provider.
While there is no legal obligation to perform PAT testing on electrical items, it often contributes to lowering business insurance premiums. Legally, businesses must ensure that all electrical appliances are safe for use, and PAT testing is the established method to verify this.

HMO’s Tested
I’ve visited two properties that had been converted to HMO’s (House of Multiple Occupancy). The landlord is letting the units out to corporals companies that look after vulnerable children and people. It’s important to ensure these vulnerable people are looked after and are living safely.
PAT Testing ensure these vulnerable people’s Portable Appliances within the property are safe for them to use. 2 flats were visited within a mile of each other, 19 appliances were tested at a flat cost of £50. Each appliance got their own label, with unique barcode and a report provided for each HMO.
